DrChrono has updated the EPCS module to check a medication's DEA Schedule for both the prescriber's state and the pharmacy's state. Whichever [prescriber or pharmacy] state has the more restrictive DEA schedule, is the DEA schedule that will be used on the electronic prescription.
Scenarios...
-
If a prescriber in state A (gabapentin is not controlled) is prescribing to a pharmacy in state B (gabapentin is controlled), digital signature is required.
-
If a prescriber in state B (gabapentin is controlled) is prescribing to a pharmacy in state A (gabapentin is not controlled), digital signature is still required.
-
If a prescriber in state C (gabapentin is not controlled) is prescribing to a pharmacy in state D (gabapentin is not controlled), digital signature is not required.
